Artichoke operates through two related legal entities:

A private company limited by guarantee without share capital. This entity delivers public-facing and educational activities including: workshops, memberships, outreach programmes, open access sessions, community participation projects, and Arts Award activity.

This entity undertakes commercial print production and professional services including:

  • editioning
  • artist print production
  • gallery and institutional client work
  • consultancy and commissioned services
Depending on the nature of the booking, purchase or service, your contract may be with one or both entities. The relevant entity will normally be identified on invoices, booking confirmations and payment documentation.

2. Website Use

By using this website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

We may update these terms from time to time without prior notice. Continued use of the website constitutes acceptance of any revised terms.


3. Bookings & Payments

Workshops, Courses & Public Programmes

Bookings are confirmed upon receipt of payment unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Prices are listed in GBP (£).

We reserve the right to:

  • amend course schedules
  • substitute tutors where necessary
  • alter workshop content where reasonably required
  • cancel sessions due to insufficient bookings or circumstances beyond our control
If Artichoke cancels a session, participants will be offered:

  • a transfer
  • credit
  • or a full refund

4. Participant Cancellations

Cancellations made more than 2 days before a session may receive:

  • a refund minus an administration fee
    OR
  • credit transfer
Cancellations made within 48 hours of a session may not be refundable.

Failure to attend without notice will be treated as a cancellation.


5. Open Access & Memberships

Membership and open access users must:

  • follow studio rules
  • comply with health & safety procedures
  • use equipment responsibly
  • respect staff, tutors and other users
Artichoke reserves the right to suspend or terminate access where behaviour is:

  • unsafe
  • abusive
  • discriminatory
  • damaging to equipment or facilities

Bookings

  • Session credits expire after 12 months
  • Memberships are non-transferable
  • Open access bookings require prior approval

6. Health & Safety

Printmaking studios contain specialist equipment and materials.

Participants agree to:

  • follow staff instructions
  • use equipment safely
  • disclose relevant health concerns where appropriate
  • wear appropriate clothing and PPE where required
Artichoke reserves the right to remove participants engaging in unsafe conduct.


7. Young People & Safeguarding

Where activities involve participants under 18 or vulnerable adults, safeguarding procedures apply.

Parents, guardians, schools or partner organisations may be required to provide:

  • emergency contact details
  • medical information
  • consent forms
  • photography permissions

8. Commercial Print Services

Commercial projects undertaken through ARTICHOKEART LIMITED may be subject to separate project agreements, quotations or contracts.

Unless otherwise agreed:

  • quotes are valid for 30 days
  • deposits may be required
  • delivery timelines are estimates only
  • intellectual property remains with the originating artist or client unless transferred in writing
Artists are responsible for approving final proofs before edition production proceeds.


9. Online Shop

The Artichoke online shop may include:

  • original artworks
  • prints
  • publications
  • workshop bookings
  • gift vouchers
  • studio-related products
  • limited edition works
All prices are listed in GBP (£).

Orders are subject to availability and confirmation.

We reserve the right to:

  • amend pricing
  • withdraw products
  • limit quantities
  • correct pricing or listing errors

10. Shipping, Returns & Refunds

Estimated delivery times are provided as guidance only and are not guaranteed.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate delivery information.

Please contact us within 7 days of delivery if an item arrives damaged.

Where appropriate, Artichoke may offer:

  • replacement
  • repair
  • refund
  • collection or return arrangements
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, customers generally have the right to cancel eligible online purchases within 14 days of receiving goods.

The following items may be non-refundable unless faulty:

  • bespoke commissions
  • personalised items
  • custom print orders
  • digital downloads
  • completed workshop sessions
Customers may be responsible for return postage costs unless an item is faulty.


11. Product Descriptions

We aim to ensure all product descriptions, images and pricing are accurate.

However:

  • colours may vary between screens
  • handmade items may differ slightly from images
  • editioned prints may contain minor variations
  • dimensions may be approximate unless otherwise stated

12. Intellectual Property

Artists and participants retain copyright in their original work unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Artichoke retains rights in:

  • teaching materials
  • course content
  • website materials
  • branding and promotional content
Artichoke may document workshops and studio activity for archival, reporting and promotional purposes unless participants request otherwise.


13. Accessibility

Artichoke aims to make its programmes and facilities as accessible as reasonably possible.

Please contact us in advance regarding:

  • access requirements
  • communication support
  • participation adjustments

14. Privacy & Data Protection

Personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We will only use personal information for:

  • administration
  • bookings
  • communication
  • safeguarding
  • legal obligations
  • programme evaluation where applicable

15. Liability

Participation in workshops and studio activities is undertaken at the participant's own risk.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by negligence
  • fraud
  • any liability which cannot legally be excluded under UK law
Artichoke is not responsible for:

  • loss or damage to personal belongings
  • indirect or consequential losses
  • participant misuse of equipment contrary to instruction

16. Force Majeure

Artichoke is not liable for delays or cancellations caused by events beyond reasonable control, including:

  • severe weather
  • strikes
  • illness
  • government restrictions
  • utility failures
  • emergencies

17. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
