Cole & Son
Founded in 1875, Cole & Son is a wallpaper company devoted to showcasing exquisite craftsmanship, using techniques such as block printing and screen printing in their designs.
Showcasing their 2026 collection Formations Cole & Son collaborated with Artichoke Print Workshop to create an editioning of 30 prints depicting their new wallpaper Diamond Maze. The prints were created using strips of aquatint applied onto an etching plate, resulting in the overall wallpaper design, retaining the texture of aquatint.
Demonstrating the various printmaking processes involved in the collection, Cole & Son teamed up with Artichoke Print Workshop at Focus/26 on Design to hold a drypoint printmaking workshop and a monoprinting workshop. This involved Artichoke’s expert studio technicians and mobile press used in community workshops and private events. Inviting clients to engage with a step-by-step guide on printmaking methods used to create wallpapers such as Painted Prism, they created and printed their own personal wallpaper design.
